Petroleum and Mineral Oils coat the hair and scalp preventing the production of natural moisture that the body produces, and attracts dirt and dust, both giving the illusion of moisture and shine.
Alcohol dries the hair out, and is found in many hair gels.
Sodium Laurel or Laureth Sulfate is a cleanser found in most shampoos. It robs the hair of moisture.
Silicones or cones are added to conditioners to add sheen to the hair. The silicones will coat the hair over time robbing the hair of its body, and will block moisture from penetrating the shaft.

Some oils on the market are altered with added ingredients or synthetics. This alteration will remove the natural and therapeutic properties of the oil. Do not use oil directly on the scalp. Always dilute the oil with a carrier oil or water. For more information on safely handling essential oils please visit From Nature with Love.
