Air Dry
Air drying is the drying of the hair without the aid of a dryer (hooded or hand held)

Beeswax
Beeswax is the grayish-brown wax secreted by the honeybee for the construction of a honeycomb.  Beeswax is used in many hair care products.

Build-up
Build-up is the excessive amount of a hair care products, such as gel and/ or pomade on your hair. The hair will look dull and lifeless.  Moisture will not be able to permeate through the build-up.

Braid
A braid is the interweaving and overlapping of three or more strands of hair .

Clarifying treatment
A clarifying treatment will breakdown any build up on the hair. A clarifying shampoo/ conditioner, or adding baking soda/ lemon to your conditioner or as a rinse will remove the build-up on the hair from the products.

Combination Hair
Combination hair is the various textures or curl patterns of the hair.

Conditioner
Conditioner is an after-shampoo treatment that promotes moisture, smoothes cuticle cells and enhances shine and manageability.

Cornrows is a type of braiding where the hair is braided close to the scalp.

Dandruff
Dandruff is the shedding of dead cells.  Dandruff can be caused by poor health, poor hygiene, allergic hyper-sensitivity, excessive consumption of sugar, fat and/ or starch, improper nutrition, hereditary predisposition, excessive use of hair sprays and gels, cold weather and dry indoor heat, anxiety, infrequent shampooing and inadequate rinsing fo the scalp and hair.

Deep Conditioner
A deep conditioner provide moisture, nourishment and strength to the hair.  The deep conditioning helps to minimize damage to hair from styling.

Dilute
Diluting a product/ ingredient with water/ a carrier oil to thin it out.

Grooming
Grooming the hair is to care for the hair.

Leave-in Conditioner
Leave-in Conditioner is a hair moisturizer that penetrates the hair and it is never rinsed out. It is found as a spray or is thick creamy.  A leave-in conditioner will help the hair to become stronger and softer.  The leave-in is also great as a detangler.

Natural Hair
Natural hair is unprocessed hair that has not been chemically altered in texture or color.  It may take anywhere from 6 months to a year to grow hair out to its natural state.

Relaxer
A relaxer is a chemical treatment that straightens the natural hair.  The effects of the relaxer generally last for six to eight weeks.

Texturizer
A Texturizer is chemical process that loosens the curl pattern. Some people believe that a Texturizer will make hair curly, but that’s not true.  Your hair must already have a visible curl pattern.  A Texturizer is a chemical process and once your hair has been chemically altered it is no longer in its natural state.

Transitioning
Transitioning is the period of time where a person transitions from chemically treated hair to natural hair.

Two Strand Twists
Two strand twists is the overlapping of two strands of hair in a ropelike fashion.
